With our Annual Campaign underway, we at Joseph Maley Foundation wanted to answer some FAQ’s about how your generous donations work to support children of ALL abilities. We asked our Executive Director, Vivian Maley, and our Accounting and Stewardship Manager Jeanne Spaletto, for the inside scoop on how donating to the Foundation works!

When someone donates to JMF, what’s the process for JMF acquiring that money? What’s the timeline?

Great question…If a donation is made through our website (josephmaley.org), we have the ability to access and utilize those funds quickly. Obviously, If someone donates through the mail (which is another great way to donate as there are no credit card fees) we simply have to wait to receive that and process. The impact of EVERY donation begins immediately!

How do donations factor into JMF’s budget?

Our donors are the heart of the Foundation. Their belief in our mission empowers us to continue to create new curriculum and opportunities for the youth in our community. We definitely rely on the support of our donors. These financial gifts help JMF provide crucial programming to our community partners.

What do these donations go to? Payroll, new programming, equipment purchases, etc?

In addition to providing financial support for our programs, donations help offset the day to day costs associated with running JMF.  While we are very mindful of expenses and routinely look for ways to reduce them, we do incur certain costs in order to continue to grow. For example, we recently invested in new technology to be used for the development of our eLearning curriculum.

Is there anything donors should know about donations to JMF?

The Joseph Maley Foundation is a 501c3 organization. All donations are tax deductible. EVERY gift goes towards our mission to serve children as we continue to teach acceptance, respect, and dignity throughout our community.

We can not emphasize enough that without the generous support of our donors, we would not be able to continue the great work we do.

All of us at JMF are so very thankful for the support of our donors. 2020 has been a tough year on everyone, and our donors’ unwavering support of our mission fuels us as we move into 2021. Staff spent a considerable amount of time this past summer reworking our programming in order to provide disABILITY awareness and HOPE on a virtual platform. Moving forward, this additional delivery method of our programs allows us to grow exponentially. The future looks bright for JMF and we are grateful to our donors for supporting us.  JMF is part of an extraordinary community of nonprofits doing important work, and we feel immensely proud to be a part of that!
