To celebrate Disability Awareness Month, the Joseph Maley Foundation would like to highlight just a portion of the impact that our disABILITY Awareness Program is making on the youth of central Indiana. For this first blog of the month, we interviewed Eric Schommer, principal at St. Monica Catholic School. Since its inception the disABILITY Awareness Program has been a yearly staple at St. Monica. Keep reading to learn more about this decades long impact.
Events Manager, Courtney Basso and her family have welcomed a new, furry addition to their home, and to the JMF family as well! Hopper, a hopeful therapy dog, is a comforting (and adorable) new presence at the Joseph Maley Foundation. In this week’s blog post, we’ve asked Courtney to introduce Hopper, and to give some insight on what exactly a therapy dog is, and how Hopper can impact JMF.
For the third installment in our series of board member blog posts, we’d like to introduce a woman who has been with the Joseph Maley Foundation from some of its earliest beginnings. Ivette Bruns shares her stories about why she loves JMF, and some of the ripple effects that she sees our programs making in the lives of children.
Here at the Joseph Maley Foundation we are always excited about growth. As we continue to grow, as our programs continue to widen their reach, and as our program partners and schools continue to reach higher numbers, we are acutely aware of the impact that our staff is making through their work. Our growth as a foundation can always be traced back to one of our now fourteen staff members, and whenever that staff grows larger, we want to share our excitement with all of you. In 2019 we have gained a new staff member: Haley Pace. Haley started as an intern for JMF in the fall of 2018, and is now a Program Associate working under our disABILITY Awareness and HOPE programs. Read more to learn about her experience with JMF and why she is excited to be a staff member!
For our second Board of Director’s blog post of the year, we’re introducing Carole McAteer. An early member of the Joseph Maley Foundation’s board, Carole has come back to help us serve children of all abilities once more, and we couldn’t be happier to have her. Keep reading to learn more about what brought Carole to JMF in the beginning, and what’s bringing her back now.
As we continue JMF’s year of stories, we want to share with you all the unique stories of our board members. Why they came to support JMF, why they stay, and why they dedicate their time to serving children of all abilities. For our first board member blog post we asked Mike Fox, one of our newest members, to share his journey to JMF.
